PRESS STATEMENT. 

The attention of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State, is drawn to alleged attempts by selfish politicians /individuals of Burutu origin to divert the solar street lights project allocated to light up Burutu Town in an attempt to embezzle the funds. It is said that the project  almost vanished, only to appear after vigilant youths of the local government protested. 

It is unacceptable and unconscionable for leaders, who claim to represent public interest to put their selfish interest above the public good. 

We are calling on the contractor(s) and individuals responsible for the completion of the solar street lights project to know that the good people of Burutu are watching as the era of diverting projects meant for Burutu Local Government without repercussions is gone forever.

We want to also use this opportunity to commend the "woke generation" (educationally-politically exposed youths) of Burutu Local Government Area for your vigilance, patriotism and love for the overall development of our communities. The voice and unity of our youthful population is the last line of defense between the forces of light and darkness, fighting for the destiny of Burutu Local Government Area. 

As a party, we are calling on the community, political leaders, the Local Government Administration and relevant authorities in Burutu Local Government Area to place the well-being of the people before their selfish interests.
